Although considered a mainstream liberal Protestant denomination today, Methodism began in the 1730s as a student movement at Oxford University, combining spiritual and scholarly discipline with what is today called “time-management.”
The purpose of this blog is to assist in recovering these lost origins, by providing a forum for history, theology, and “tips and tricks.”
The term “ErgoMethodist” serves as a reminder that the method behind Methodism is a distinctive and intentional approach to WORK (έργον being the Greek word for “work,” as in “ergonomic” and “faith apart from έργων is dead” [Jas 2.26]). Similarly, this site will refer to individual units of work as “ErgoMonads.”
